Q: Who can become a member of THIRDLOT.com?
Answer: New-car dealers only.
Q: What's it cost?
Answer: The monthly fee is $179, or $1,790 if paid annually.
The fee is low to attract as many members as possible. More dealers means more inventory, and that works
better for everyone.
Q: Any other fees?
Answer: No. Even the other Classified Ad listings are free.
Q: What's the commitment?
Answer: None. You are a member for as long or short as you want.
Q: Who has access at my dealership?
Answer: You decide. There are three levels of access: Dealer Administrator, Managers and Sales. Each person you assign gets their own login, and you can change the users whenever you want. Managers have access to everything on the site except for adding & deleting inventory, which is handled by the Dealer Administrator. Salespeople can search for vehicles on the site but will not have access to any sensitive pricing information.
Q: How secure is my information?
Answer: The engine behind THIRDLOT.com is QuickBase, a division of Intuit, makers of Quicken and Quick Books. A company that size assures that security is a top issue. Your membership fees will be handled by a secure, web-approved third-party vendor.
Q: Is THIRDLOT.com compatible with the DMS and other software we currently run?
Answer: THIRDLOT.com is a web-based product, completely independent of any other software. There are no compatibility issues.
Q: How does THIRDLOT.com differ from your current vehicle search tools?
Answer: Your current search tools merely show what's in stock at other dealerships. THIRDLOT.com lets you see instantly what's for sale and at what price. YOU list the inventory you want to sell and YOU set the price, AT, ABOVE OR BELOW INVOICE. Instead of just searching for inventory at other dealerships, THIRDLOT.com lets you actively market your inventory to other dealers.
Q: Are transactions guaranteed?
Answer: No. THIRDLOT.com is a facilitator between buyer and seller. You must exercise all normal diligence during the transaction. This is one way we keep your membership fee low.
Q: What if one party defaults?
Answer: Follow you normal course of action. In the future we will add dealer ratings as a planned enhancement to the site.
Q: How easy is it to list my inventory?
Answer: Very easy. Just enter VIN number and most other fields are automatically filled. Then just update any field that needs revision, add any extras, and set your selling price as aggressively as you want.
Q: How long does it take for changes to show up?
Answer: Instantly. Whether you add or delete inventory or change prices, the revisions are posted when you save the changes. You can make changes as often as you want.
Q: Who runs THIRDLOT.com?
Answer: Independent business people not in the auto business. Please see "About Us."
Q: What else is coming?
Answer: We have several planned enhancements, and none of them will add any cost to the site. We will also rely on your input though the Suggestions link and from our Dealer Advisory Board. Should there be additional tools that incur extra costs, any proposed changes will be posted for discussion by the members and also presented to the Advisory Board before any changes are made.
Q: Tell me about the advisory board.
Answer: It will be formed from a cross-section of dealers across the country on a voluntary basis. There are no fees or expenses, and no travel is required. Remember, we want to be your best friend in the auto business and we can't do it without your input. Please click the Advisory Board link to request to be a member.
